WHAT DID JESUS THINK?

There are several stories in the Old Testament that may seem hard to believe, especially if a person does not believe in God, who is powerful and can do anything.

Jesus Christ is perfect and sinless, so He  would not try to trick us into believing what wasn’t true. He would not tell a lie, or even be mistaken. So what did He think about some hard-to-believe stories?

  • Jonah and the Whale

Jesus believed that Jonah was swallowed by a "great fish"The story of Jonah and the Whale (or the fish, as it is also called) seems unbelievable at first!  But . . .

JESUS BELIEVED IN JONAH’S ADVENTURE !

He used it as an example to explain how he was going to be dead three days before coming alive again.
He said: ‘As Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth’ (Matthew 12:40).

  • The Creation Story Jesus believed in Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden

When speaking about the importance of marriage in family life, Jesus spoke about Adam and Eve.
JESUS BELIEVED THE CREATION STORY.

He said : ‘Haven’t you read. . . that in the beginning the Creator made them male and female’, and . . . for this reason a man will. . . be united to his wife’ (Matthew 19: 4).

  • Noah’s Flood Jesus believed in Noah's Ark

Jesus was explaining that after He had returned to Heaven He would come back to earth one day.
He said that just as the people in Noah’s time did not believe there would be a flood, so people in our time would not believe that they were in danger, that they needed to get right with God before Jesus returned.
He said: ‘As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood. . . they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away’ (Matthew 2437-39).

JESUS BELIEVED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A GREAT FLOOD !

  • Rest of the Old Testament

Several times Jesus spoke about the rest of the Bible. Here is one example from Luke 24:44.This is what I told you... everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.’

JESUS BELIEVED  THE OLD TESTAMENT WAS ACCURATE HISTORY!

We can be sure the Bible is true because Jesus believed it.

Remember: Jesus is perfect and sinless - so He would never be mistaken, trick us or tell a lie!
