DIVINE INSPIRATION
Do you remember the example of the Boss
and the Secretary. The secretary writes what the Boss wants to say. It
is still the Boss's letter even though he hasn't used the word processor
himself. This is because it is his thoughts and his words, copied out by
the secretary.
In the same way, the Bible is God's thoughts, in His own words, written
down by men of God. This is called Divine (God's) INSPIRATION This means
'Breathed in by God'.
The Bible writers opened their hearts and minds to God. He told them what
to write. 2 Timothy 3:16 says: 'All Scripture is given by inspiration
of God.' 2 Peter 1:21 says: 'Prophecy never had its origin in the
will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy
Spirit.'
Some of them recorded their own
experiences, something like a diary, or an autobiography. Some wrote the
history of times past.
Someone wrote about the time before there were men on the earth.
Some copied down the words of other holy men of God.
But whatever they wrote, God watched over them, and helped them to write
exactly the words He wanted. So the MESSAGES, PROMISES and WARNINGS in the
Bible are from GOD HIMSELF.

AWESOME
Isn't it awesome that God went to all that
trouble to give us these messages about His love for us, and how He wants
to take care of us if we trust Him and obey Him. What a marvellous letter
to get!
An ordinary library is great for FINDING OUT about things and for
finding HOW TO DO things. But God's book, the Bible, is the only library
which will help us truly find out about God and ourselves and which will
show us not just what WE can do , but what GOD wants to do for us.
The Bible is no ordinary book. By following
the instructions God gives us in it we can experience GOD HIMSELF, working
in our lives - changing us, helping us, guiding us.
