CHRISTMAS PRESENTATION

Do you . . .

  • Find yourself short of time

  • Have a class who are poor readers

  • Feel that a whole play is too much for the children to learn

Then what you need is a simple, easy to learn Christmas item.  Add this to familiar carols and other children's songs for a seasonal service.

Here is one.  Do you have any similar ideas to add?  Please e-mail us and share your ideas with others.

Spelling CHRISTMAS

Prepare large rectangular cards, each with a letter on.  If you wish, make them the shape of tree baubles, or bells.
This could be done equally well with large imitation Christmas cards, which open to reveal the letter as each line is said.
Or even simply cover the rectangles with gift wrap and put a bow on for imitation gifts.

Whatever shape you choose you need one for each letter.  To help the children, their lines may be printed large and clear on the back.  We have found this removes a lot of strain, and is especially helpful if time is short!!

The children take turns to hold up their card , reveal the letter and say their line.  For little ones who know their letters but cannot read, you could have them hold up the cards while older children read , or a narrator.

tells us the Lord Jesus CHRIST is His name
H says down from HEAVEN to earth He came
R says REMEMBER, God sent Him one day
I says, in the INN He had no place to stay
S speaks of the STAR that shone in the sky
T tells us that there were great TIDINGS of joy
M says in a MANGER Jesus was born
A - ANGELS and men worshipped Him that morn
S says, Christ came down to SAVE you and me
[All] That's the real meaning of Christmas, you see!

Symbols of Christmas

This easy-to-learn item requires you to make card shapes for the readers to hold up (Their lines may be printed on the back).
If they hold the shape up high, in front of their face, everyone will see what it is, and the readers can see their lines.  Practice is needed, but not necessarily learning by heart!

Make a cardboard shape to suit each item - larger than life if necessary, so al may see.

Christmas GIFTS, they bring us pleasure
How we love them, every one.
But God gave beyond all measure
When He gave His only Son.

Christmas STARS they glow and twinkle.
They each have a message, too.
For the God who made the heavens
Placed them there for me and you.

Christmas BELLS ring very clearly,
As they call us all to pray.
Let us give our praise to Jesus
Worship Him this happy day.

Christmas LIGHTS so softly shining
Shed their rays throughout the night.
They remind us of the Saviour,
He alone is Heaven's true Light

Christmas MUSIC, carol singing,
Songs of praise and joy go forth,
Telling out the wondrous story
Of the Saviour's promised birth.

Christmas symbols, none so precious
As God's great and holy WORD.
Let us stop and think about it
For it tells of Christ the Lord.
